Dr. Krishna Iyer is the Chairman of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery at Escorts Fortis Hospital, Okhla, New Delhi.
Dr. Krishna Iyer is a one of India’s leading paediatric cardiac surgeons.
Dr. Krishna Iyer is widely recognized for his surgical expertise and extensive involvement in paediatric cardiac care. He has made significant contributions to children’s heart care across India and several developing countries.
Dr. Iyer founded the first specialized paediatric cardiac care program in North India, a pioneering initiative, at Escorts Heart Institute Research Centre in 1995.
This pedicatric program under his guidence become the benchmark for heart treatment for pediatric patients across India as well as South East Asian countries

like arterial switch procedure, double switch operation TAPVC repairs, Fontan and Fontan type procedures, corrections for tetralogy of Fallot, DORV, Truncus, Senning operation, conduit repairs, a wide range of one-stage, and multi-stage corrections for complex congenital heart diseases.

His current areas of interest include perfecting complex neonatal cardiac surgery, performing cardiac surgery in malnourished infants and children, and salvaging late presenters of congenital heart disease. He is also deeply committed to developing cost-effective cardiac care for children in developing countries.
After completing his basic training, he joined the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at AIIMS. He served as Additional Professor there, when he moved to Escorts Heart Institute, he set up dedicated paediatric cardiac care division.
In 1989, he completed his training in paediatric and infant cardiac surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. He trained as a Senior Fellow in the Department of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, under the guidance of the renowned surgeon Dr. R.B.B. Mee.
He is actively involved in several charities dedicated to underprivileged children. His most notable contribution is his participation in the ‘Gift of Life’ program by Rotary International, which provides cardiac care for underprivileged children in need.
